It’s getting hotter and hotter, isn’t it?

My first year students have a special class called “Listening & Pronunciation”.
It’s special because there are two teachers: Jim from America and me from the UK.

Last week we compared and practised the pronunciation of different words in American English and British English.
It’s a fun, interesting and useful lesson.
Jim and I had a friendly battle!

He won this time, but I’m going to win next time!!!

Hello everyone!
I’m Rhys Wedlock of the Foreign Languages Department.
How are you?

This week my new first year students started college.
There are nine girls and four boys.
They came to college for our Start-Up Seminar on Monday.

It was the entrance ceremony yesterday, and today & tomorrow we’re on our orientation trip to Shizuoka!

I’m looking forward to teaching them for two years.

I hope they become good friends, study hard and that their dreams come true!

Last week I took my first year students to Taichung in Taiwan for one week’s Chinese study.
We all took Chinese lessons together,
and my students had a lot of man-to-man Chinese practice with Taiwanese students.

At lunchtime the Taiwanese students took us to buy local food,
and in the evening we went to night markets and to a beautiful temple.
We also had a one-day sightseeing tour, and experienced some traditional culture.
It was very interesting.

We all became better at Chinese and we all made Taiwanese friends.
Many thanks to the staff and students of the Taichung Institute of Technology.
It was a wonderful experience!

Next week my first year students and I are going to Taiwan for one-week Chinese study.
Today they came to school and took Chinese classes.

They’re trying very hard and we’re all excited about next week, but maybe I won’t understand anything!!!

Today my second year students made their graduation thesis (卒業論文) presentations.
Their reports and presentations were all in English, and all the themes were very different.
It was very interesting!

I’m sad that they’re graduating soon.

Next Friday it’s our English speech contest.
My students are busy writing their speeches & memorizing them.
They’re trying very hard and their speeches are very interesting.

こんにちは
語学集中科1年の大岩です

ついに私たち語学集中科はオーストラリアから帰国しました

最後の週末に私たちは2泊3日のキャンプでGreat Ocean Roadへ行ってきました
他の日本人の学生と一緒にカヌーをしたり、牧場をまわったり、観光をしたり、
3日間だとは思えないほどたくさんの経験ができました

その中でも個人的におもしろかったのはサーフィン
みんなが初めてだったのですが、ほとんどの人が波に乗って立つことができていました

そして最後の週はクラスでいろいろなことをしました
私のクラスはみんなでお菓子を持ち寄ってパーティをしたり、
ボウリングに行ったりしました

学校最後の日にはセレモニーがありました
クラスメイトや先生に会える最後の日だったので離れるのがとても悲しかったです

この留学を通してたくさん経験して、たくさん成長できたと思います
これから就職活動の準備が本格的に始まるので
みんなで協力して頑張りたいと思います

語学集中科1年の我妻です

オーストラリアに来てから約1ヶ月が過ぎて段々とhost familyや学校に慣れてきました

10月28日にHolmesglenに留学に来ている日本人およそ50人ほどでPhillip islandへ行ってきました

wild parkと言う動物公園へ行き、
ワラビーや日本では見ることのできない珍しい鳥などに餌をあげました

夜には海岸に猟から帰ってきたペンギンを見にgo

保護の関係で、写真や動画はもちろん携帯を使うのもダメ
最小と言われているだけありとても小さくて可愛かったです

海外の卒業式に着るのははドレス
という訳で私達は今、卒業式で着るドレスを一生懸命探しています
オーストラリアにはたくさんオシャレな服が売っているのでついつい買ってしまうんです

そして12月には2泊3日のcampがありとっても楽しみです

残り約 “1ヶ月”
遊びも勉強も頑張ります 笑

こんにちは
語学集中科 1年 仲村です

私達は10/6からオーストラリアに留学しに来ています
第２の都市と言われているMelbourneという所です

１日目は、シドニー観光をしました
オペラハウスやハーバー・ブリッジ
とても綺麗な場所で沢山の人で賑わっていました

2日目からは、Holmesglenという学校で様々な国の留学生達と一緒に勉強をしています
初めは緊張していた皆ですが今では楽しく授業を受けています

5日目はCity tourに行きました(^^)/
高～いビルに沢山のカフェやお店があり、とてもワクワクしました
また自分の力で買い物をする事も1つの勉強なので頑張っています
私はハンバーガーやカプチーノを買う時に中々伝わらず
発音が少し違うだけでこんなに買うことが難しいんだなと思い、
ますます英語を頑張りたいと思いました

私達は1人1つのお家でHomestayをしています
おばあちゃんだけや子供達がいるお家、他の国の留学生がいるお家など様々な家庭があります
休日はHostfamilyとshoppingにいったりなど、とても楽しくコミュニケーションをとることができます

私のHostfamilyは とても優しい方たちで
いつもわかりやすい英語でゆっくり話をしてくれるので すぐに聞き取ることができ、
私もそれに対して返すことができるので きちんと会話をするように心がけています
また落ち着いた環境で過ごすことができているので毎日がとても楽しいです

10/28はPhillip Islandへ行きます
ペンギンパレードが観られるのでとても楽しみです

残り２ヶ月は切りましたがまだまだこれからなので
勉強を頑張り！shoppingに行き！
楽しんでいきたいと思います

Hello everyone.

How’sit going?
Last week I took my first year students to Australia.
I came back to Japan,but my students are staying in Melbourne for 2 months!

On the first day we did sightseeing in Sydney.
It’s a really beautiful city!
Then we flew to Melbourne and my students met their host families.
They’re really kind and friendly!

The next day they had an English placement test, and then they spent the weekend with their host families.
They had a city tour this Monday, and nowthey’re taking English classes every day with students from other countries.

I miss them but they’re having a good time and their English will get better!!
